
The Reverend Elizabeth Ayscue is the senior minister of First
Presbyterian Church. Born in Laurinburg, North Carolina, she attended Peace
College and graduated cum laude from UNCG. She received her Master of Arts degree
from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia, and
her Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary. She received
the E.T. George Award for Excellence in Homiletics and Public Speaking.
Elizabeth came to us in August 2002 from Cliffton Presbyterian Church in Maxwelton,
West Virginia, where she was senior minister from August 1995 until July 2002.
Prior to that, she was associate pastor at Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church
in Lexington, Kentucky, from 1990-1995.
She is married to Austin ("Skeet"), a native of Henderson, North Carolina,
who is a graduate of UNC and an electronic engineer. They have two children,
Rebekah and Spencer.
In her autobiographical statement to the church, she expressed, "It is with absolute certainty and overwhelming joy that I respond to God's call now through First Church, Albemarle. Inasmuch as God has brought us to this point, I am convinced that God will give us, pastor and people, a shared vision of ministry in Albemarle and throughout the world as we seek to lead and serve together."
